FIFA 13 | Video Game Review

Review by Matthew Hurst

It truly is in the game

The yearly iteration of the FIFA franchise is out and the question on everyone’s mind, as always, is: Is this just FIFA 12 with a few extra candy sprinkles or is it truly a game which can stand on its own? Well, after attending the launch and playing the game for just over a week now, I can truly say its the best FIFA yet.

Unfortunately, I can’t compare it to PES as I haven’t played it, but I find myself unable to play FIFA 12 after playing FIFA 13. It just seems too stiff, too predictable. The new gameplay features they have added really puts you in control of the action in a way never before seen in the FIFA series. The biggest (and my  favourite change) is the the new first touch control feature. Pass the ball too hard, and he’ll struggle to control it. Pass it too softly and it’ll be snatched up quicker than free balloons at a clown convention. It introduces the kind of unpredictability that has been missing from most football games up to now. It certainly added an extra element to the gameplay. Luckily, to get to grips with the accuracy and control needed to run a successful club, they have introduced Skill Games. These games will have you dribbling, shooting, passing and crossing through three different tiers (bronze, silver and gold), each more challenging than the last. I have played FIFA since 2001 and I still struggled with alot of the challenges, so I truly believe they will improve your FIFA skills, whether you’re a beginner or have been playing since the good old days like I have.

Hence, these fun satires of new games coming from the bigger publishers:

Also, here is a Micheal Bay edition of E3:

And here is a video titled "Some Awesome people that I used to know". It features people doing awesome things (extreme sports, juggling etc).
